The last section of the game has Ellie living on a farm with her girlfriend, having presumably put her desire for revenge behind her. It isn't bad inherently, but because of the abundance of these themes in media, its difficult to do it right, and for me, it just misses the mark at the end. If you're a fan of storytelling in general, you'll have seen these themes a thousand times. Ultimately, its a story about the cycle of violence and how Vengeance begets vengeance. This leads to Ellie killing Abby's allies, and in turn, Abby retaliating by killing her friend, Jesse. Its revealed that Abby's father was the surgeon Joel killed at the end of TLOU to save Ellie. Along the way, we discover why this happens and how Abby comes into it. The story focuses on Ellie and her journey to avenge the death of Joel. Lastly, I wanna talk about the story/writing, which is where the vast majority of my issues are, especially with the ending. There were some graphical foibles here and there, and I did get some goofy glitches crop up, but it looks great and performs as good as can be expected. Visually it's stellar, as expected of a AAA title. ![]() I don't think there was a single character who was voiced poorly or that just didn't fit the character. Everyone involved did a great job, in spite of some bad writing here and there. Can't really complain.Īs for the acting, absolutely stellar. Either way, overall much of the same with some QOL changes. The only step down for me was the bricks and bottles. It did take me some time adjusting to the new melee combat, but once I got it down, it was better than the original admittedly. ![]() As someone who did enjoy the original somewhat for it's gameplay, the changes only being minor was fine for me. In addition, I played the original TLOU just before, so the context of the story was fresh. If it's genuinely awful, let it speak for itself. If I'm gonna judge a game, I'd like to avoid all the voices telling me it's bad. As much as I knew about the criticism of the game, I went into it with as little bias as possible. Looking back, there was a good amount of legitimate criticism that I agreed with, having finally played the game, but it's awful how a lot of it was hand waved due to the morons who focused on the design of the game's secondary protagonist more than the content of the game.īefore I properly start this post, met me preface it with this. ![]() Anybody with a vested interest in gaming knows about The Last Of Us, and not only that, likely knows about the controversial backlash the game got.
